A quadrilateral is a four-sided polygon. You can use this calculator to find the area of any quadrilateral as long as you know the lengths of its sides and the angle between them.

Formula for the area of a quadrilateral

The area of a quadrilateral can be calculated using the following formula:

Area = 1/2 x (a x b x sin(C) + c x d x sin(A))

where:

  • a, b, c, and d are the lengths of the sides
  • A and C are the angles opposite sides a and c, respectively

How to use the calculator

To find the area of a quadrilateral:

  1. Enter the lengths of the sides in the corresponding fields.
  2. Enter the angle between sides a and c.
  3. Click "Calculate".

The calculator will display the area of the quadrilateral in the output field.

Make sure to enter the measurements in the same units (e.g. all in meters or all in feet).

Example

Suppose we have a quadrilateral with sides of length 5, 6, 7, and 8 units, and an angle of 45 degrees between sides a and c. To find the area:

  1. Enter 5 in the field for side a, 7 in the field for side c, and 45 in the field for the angle between them.
  2. Click "Calculate".

The calculator will display the area of the quadrilateral as approximately 21.96 square units.
