Welcome to our Math lesson on Divisibility by 8, this is the eighth lesson of our suite of math lessons covering the topic of Divisibility Rules, you can find links to the other lessons within this tutorial and access additional Math learning resources below this lesson.
Divisibility by 8
Rule: "A number is divisible by 8 if its last three digits form a number divisible by 8."
For example, 47,128 is divisible by 8 because 128 ÷ 8 = 16, i.e. it is a number divisible by 8.
On the other hand, 764,924 is not divisible by 8 because 924 ÷ 8 = 115.5, which is not an integer.
The calculator confirms these results as 47,128 ÷ 8 = 5891 and 764,924 ÷ 8 = 95,615.5.
Obviously, a number that is divisible by 8 is also divisible by 2 and 4.
